Senior Tips

What to do during your SENIOR year:
  • Talk to your guidance counselor and your parents to finalize your list of colleges
  • Decide if you would like to apply early decision or early action at any school and keep a list of all application due dates •
  • Prepare a high school resume to highlight your academic achievements and extra-curricular activities •
  • Keep up with your grades especially during the first semester • Visit the colleges to which you are applying •
  • December is your last chance to take the ACT or SAT since more college application deadlines occur during this month, January, or February • Request that your ACT or SAT scores be sent to the colleges to which you are applying •
  • If the school requires an interview, be sure to seek out advice from your college counselor or your teachers • Write thank you notes to everyone who wrote you a letter of recommendation • Continue to search for scholarships •
  • Finish your applications and turn them in before the deadlines •
  • Send in your FASFA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as soon as possible after January 1st •
  • Be sure to make your decision and send in your deposit by May 1st (for most schools) to secure your spot
